CFB KINGSTON AWARENESS
English Version
French Version
Canadian Forces Base Kingston has launched an Energy Awareness Campaign that is supporting Canada’s Greening Government Strategy. We are taking action against climate change by implementing an Energy Performance Contract (EPC) overseen by Defence Construction Canada (DCC) and the Department of National Defence (DND).
The EPC and Energy Awareness Campaign is being led by the Eco-Team, compromised members from DCC and DND, which aims to drive awareness, education, and encouragement around sustainable buildings involving energy efficiency and water consumption. The Eco-Team is also promoting each milestone of the EPC and CFB Kingston’s sustainable efforts.
Our target is to assist the EPC achieve a 40% reduction in GHG emissions at the base before 2030. Innovative solutions are being implemented to modernize CFB Kingston to use less energy and water while creating more comfortable and efficient work and home environments for students, employees, soldiers, and their families. We are also using this opportunity to address aging equipment throughout the base in a cost-efficient manner.
We consider this effort critical to the future of our planet by enhancing sustainable operations of CFB Kingston. We anticipate it will pave the way for similar projects at other military bases across Canada to adopt more sustainable technologies and enhance the efficiency of their building systems. With extensive expertise and a deep understanding of the challenges involved, the Eco-Team will become CFB Kingston’s partner in paving the way for the achievement of Canada’s plan to reach net zero by 2050.
Look out for the CFB Kingston Eco-Team across different base facilities with updates on the project and how you can make a difference!
